In Dutch culture, it’s common to enjoy a cup of coffee around 8 p.m. with a single stroopwafel. When our founder, HJ, arrived from the Netherlands to the land of the free, he missed the Dutch stroopwafels.

So, HJ started baking his own and shared them with the people around him. Now he has a cup of coffee and two stroopwafels, but doesn’t tell his mom.

About us

Bringing Authentic Dutch Stroopwafels to America

The stroopwafel is as Dutch as the owner of Dutch Gold, Huibert Johannes Fousert. He grew up eating these delicious treats with a cup of coffee, and on Saturdays he would beg his mom to treat him to a fresh one at the cheese market.

HJ, as the Americans lovingly call him, started Dutch Gold so he could enjoy fresh stroopwafels again and share them with Americans. When you take your first bite of a stroopwafel, you’re transported to Holland with flavors of caramel, cinnamon, and vanilla.

HJ graduated from Dutch culinary school and has cooked in kitchens all over the world. He developed his own Dutch recipe using local ingredients.
